GeoFactory
An early NexoNest concept for preparing complex design geometry for more reliable manufacturing workflows.
What must happen between a complex design model and geometry that a fabrication process can trust?
GeoFactory proposed a preparation layer for checking, simplifying, segmenting, and translating geometry before toolpath or machine-specific operations.
The missing middle
A design model can be geometrically rich yet unsuitable for fabrication. Seams, excessive detail, continuity breaks, tolerance errors, and machine constraints often appear only after the form is considered finished.
GeoFactory explored that intermediate territory: not form generation and not machine control, but the geometric preparation that allows the two to meet.
Proposed workflow
-
01
Inspect
Read topology, continuity, scale, and tolerance-sensitive conditions.
-
02
Prepare
Segment or simplify geometry without silently erasing important features.
-
03
Translate
Organise prepared geometry for downstream toolpath and manufacturing logic.
-
04
Report
Expose warnings and assumptions so fabrication decisions remain traceable.
What survives
GeoFactory did not reach a validated public release. Its strongest ideas survive in later work on geometry fidelity, simulation preprocessing, and toolpath-aware design. The page records that lineage without presenting a concept as a finished product.
